The second round of the Semi-Finals has kicked off! As usual here’s your summary coming to you extra hot. Why? Because the Grand Finals are finally here, on the 2nd of September.
Before was Liquid Sun vs Angry Furniture, a strong competition between last year’s runner up and a fresh face. Long story short, despite Liquid Sun’s strong experience and stage presence, the new and emerging Angry Furniture seized the throne and are now moving onto the Finals.
The Bands:
If you don’t remember Hazy from Round 3, now you do. They eased the audience in with melancholic, slow love songs — break up songs to be exact. An all original set: “Sunday”, “Desperate”, and “Garage Sale”, are the perfect songs that get you swaying (and sobbing) when you remember what could have been. Speaking of “Garage Sale”, it was their redemption performance from Round 3 where they reminisced about playing it wrong, and dropping a drum stick. Though we definitely didn’t notice, too busy rocking out to their songs, this time was killer as well! Great success for Hazy.
Mum’s Cardigan followed up with more upbeat tunes, wowing us with a good mix of covers and originals, some not even released yet. The members showed off their versatility, incorporating a sax into rock and some switching vocalists in between songs. But of course, what’s the point of having a sax player without adding a sexy song into the mix? They debuted a new song that day that had the crowd swaying, ending the night buzzed. Go get your record label deal Mum’s Cardi!
The Judgement:
The judges, the audience, and the guest judge have spoken.
Once again, Mum’s Cardigan has taken their win by a landslide.
Cementing themself firmly in the competition, can they keep up their win streak?
