Hey everyone! My name is Usama, and I am a third year QUT student majoring in Finance and Accounting. I am honoured to announce that I have been elected to serve as the Treasurer for the Student Guild in 2023. I understand the challenges and difficulties that we all have faced whilst at university, and it is my sincere pleasure to represent you in any and all matters pertaining to QUT. My background is very much based in finance, and I am well versed in working through problems to come up with justifiable solutions.
I want every student to know that I intend to do everything in my power to support the fight for student rights and wellbeing. I stand in admiration of unions that fight for the rights of the people, and I would love to be part of that journey to do whatever I can in my power to help assist those that are struggling.
I am aware that Covid has posed numerous challenges for everyone, particularly students. Not only has it reduced student morale, it also has decreased student attendance. I want to be part of the team that helps fix that.
One of our goals is to help increase student engagement and restoring campus culture to its pre-covid state. I intend to fix this by partnering up with brands near and around campus to give discounts to students for engaging in business. My vision is for all students to feel safe and encouraged to come and enjoy university life, as it was intended. I am proud to be representing you all and ecstatic to see all the wonderful things that we as the Guild will accomplish for you this upcoming year.
