Meet the Glass Editors for 2022

2021 is cancelled and we no longer want to talk about it. We are now well and truly into the new year and it’s already not going as well as we all hoped it would. Covid is still very much a thing, we are back working from home, and Rapid Antigen Tests are a greater commodity than Class A narcotics.

One thing that remains consistent is our new editorial team for 2022!

With that in mind we would like to introduce our Glass Team; Ella Brumm, Tom Loudon, Christina Simonoski, and our newest member Ciaran Greig!

We are excited to continue what we started in 2021 while giving our Glass readers even more content surrounding Guild accountability, interviews with important QUT and Student Guild members, continuing our esteemed newsletter, and the opportunity to meet all our lovely readers at our launch parties and other events in 2022.

All of that is to come, but for now let’s introduce ourselves!

Ella Brumm

Hello fellow Glassies! I am returning for round 2 at Glass in 2022, and I am so thrilled to partake in this amazing opportunity again. I started my journey with Glass as an editor in 2021 where I published the second most viewed article of Glass history titled (Hyperlink) An Open Letter to Men from an Exhausted Woman. Being in my third year of a Bachelor of Law (Honours), I am excited to add my analytical and legal voice to Glass regarding key political changes and the intricacies of the operations of our student union. I would love for this Glass team to provide even more accountability of our QUT Student Guild and report on policy and executive changes as they occur. Beyond this, I am excited to incorporate more interviews, stupol commentary, and non-fiction pieces about matters that directly affect students and young people to our publication. I can’t wait to start our first print issue and (fingers crossed) receive even more submissions from our talented readers next year. As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us by emailing either myself at ebrumm@qutguild.com or the team at media@qutguild.com. Alternatively, if you would like to meet us in person and have a chat feel free to swing by our office on Level 2 at C-Block at the KG campus.

Tom Loudon

Hey, I’m Tom! I am so excited to be back at Glass for a second year in 2022. I am currently in my final year of a Bachelor of Communication (Journalism), and am a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Creative Writing) graduate from QUT. As the Editor in Chief at Glass, it is my role to manage the team and to help curate and deliver news, information, and artwork to QUT students, while also assisting students with the development of their work. As a part of the team in 2022, I hope to expand Glass’ readership across all faculties, and for Glass to become known as a source of trustworthy, relevant information for students on campus. We aim to include content from students from a diverse range of backgrounds and courses to develop the culture of the magazine. I am excited to bring new ideas to Glass, and to see our publication grow even more!

You can contact me at tloudon@qutguild.com.

Christina Simonoski

Hello friends! I am so thrilled to be starting a fresh new year with Glass again. I hope that this year we can facilitate even more opportunities to make you laugh, cry, question, learn, and present your own thoughts both online and in our print editions. My passion for Glass lies within fostering community and culture within QUT. One of my biggest goals for Glass next year is to hold even more successful community-building events as well as entice even more diverse groups of students to start contributing to Glass both online and in our magazine. My content and work this year will focus on the things you care about! Whether you’re interested in new and exciting clubs you can join around campus, changes to the way uni policies are run, interviews with spectacular students and alumni or something as simple as helping you discover the best new album to listen to while studying – I hope to be your go-to all-rounder. Can’t wait to hear from you all soon! xx Christina

Ciaran Greig

Hi there, I’m Ciaran! I can’t even express how excited I am to be a part of the Glass team for 2022.  I’m about to start my fifth year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Creative Writing)/Bachelor of Laws. In my mind, Glass already occupies such a special place in so many QUT student’s hearts and minds. For a long time, I revered Glass and I think there’s something about it that makes it an incredibly important student publication. To me, Glass is something special and intangible in its DNA – a buzz or a pizzazz or a hum. My goal for 2022 is to capture this buzz and amplify it. As a writer myself, I’m excited to build relationships with contributors and encourage students and alumni to submit for the first time. I was only published in Glass for the first time last year – I remember all too well what it feels like to love a publication from afar while believing your own work would never be polished enough to appear in it. I’d encourage every person who feels like this to submit or reach out for a chat! We’d love to hear what you have to say. I can be contacted at cgreig@qutguild.com.
