Hi Glassies! My name is Jarrod Ward and I was recently elected by the Guild as your new Treasurer! I’m currently studying finance at the QUT Business School and am thrilled to represent my peers in this position.  As boring as it may sound to some, I have a true love affair for data, statistics and all things spreadsheets. I hope that my knowledge and skills are a great addition to an already amazing Guild team!

You can all rest assured that our balance sheet is in good hands. Over the last few years, I have worked in lead project management roles for some of Queensland’s largest construction projects including Australia’s first digital hospital – STARS (2020), Howard Smith Wharves Precinct (2019) and Carlile Hotel (2018). I took pride in managing every dollar and cent as if it was my own during this time and am excited to bring the Guild’s ambitious projects to life in the most financially viable manner.

In recent years, the Guild has done important work negotiating with QUT for a larger portion of the Student Services and Ammenities Fee (SSAF) fund. I firmly believe in this campaign and intend to do everything in my power to follow through with the Guild’s strategic plan during my time as Treasurer. Injecting additional student-raised funds into an elected student union means reinvesting into student-led initiates, actions and welfare.

If you want to get in touch, please don’t hesitate to reach out to treasurer@qutquild.com if you have any queries or concerns. We are your voice and are always excited to hear from you!
