Jackson Radel: Revive candidate for Engineering Councillor & NUS Delegate

Glass invited all Guild election candidates to submit a statement explaining why they are running and why they deserve your vote. This is your chance to hear directly from those who want to represent you—so take a moment to get to know their priorities and visions for the future.

Voting opens on Monday, 21st October 2024. You can check out the rest of the candidate statements here.

My name is Jackson, and I am an engineering student at QUT.

As an engineering student, I understand how important it is to have a Guild that is stable, effective, and works harder for us. The current Guild has let us down with its instability, multiple resignations, and lack of student engagement. That’s why I’m running for Engineering Councillor with Revive—to fight for a stronger Guild that will deliver the support we need.

I’m particularly passionate about reviving our campus culture. Engineering students deserve more reasons to engage with campus life, from fully funded clubs and societies to easier access to rooms and advertising for events. I’ll also advocate for practical measures like reducing ticket prices for club events, making room bookings easier, and ensuring that engineering students have access to the best resources for both study and extracurricular activities.

Engineering at QUT should be more than just classes and projects—it should be a community. Vote for me and the Revive team, and together we’ll work to create a better university experience where engineering students are supported academically, socially, and financially.
