Your O-Week Bible

O-Week is well and truly underway – and it’s looking a little different this year. Whether you’re a fresh faced undergrad, a seasoned postgrad, or someone just looking to find out a little more about what university life has to offer, we’ve gotcha. 😎 Presenting: Your O-Week Bible. It is a comprehensive run-down of every event on offer this week for QUT students. Enjoy!

Something to Note

This O-Week is completely online at the direction of the University. Get your comfy pants out, your snazzy tops on, your furry friends at the ready, and your Zoom background looking slick.

First Years

If you’re a first year, it’s a (chef’s kiss) idea to join the QUT-run First Years group on Facebook. This is a great way to have a squiz at what is going on and scope out some potential new pals. You can join the group here

Another Facebook group you may like to join is QUT Stalkerspace, a super active student-run group for conversations about all things QUT student culture.

Register for Your Course Orientation Events

It might seem a bit overwhelming to navigate all the different orientation events for your course. These can be super helpful in assisting you to find your feet as you begin your semester of study, so try to attend them. You can check out all the O-Week event relevant to your particular course here

Some of these events will be run on campus, but many will be run through QUT’s online orientation platform, which you can access here

Join in on a QUT Student Guild O-Week Event

These are the really fun ones!

The QUT Student Guild is a group of students who are elected by students and paid to make your experience at QUT the best it can be. They advocate on your behalf, and they provide the structure that allows us, Glass, to exist.

The Student Guild is running all sorts of events this week! There’s something for everyone on offer – from Disco Yoga to Creative Journaling to Cocktail Making! Come along to makes some new pals and have fun doing it.

The best place to keep track of all Student Guild O-Week events is here.

Have a Chat with Our Vibrant Clubs and Societies

Clubs and societies are a core part of being a QUT student. They are a game-changer for you uni experience and they only way to make guaranteed friends (really!!! lectures and tutes are not always the vibe for friend making 🙁).

We have a vibrant patchwork of student-run clubs and societies at QUT. Navigating your choices can be overwhelming at times. We recommend checking out the full list of clubs and societies here, then following up the Facebook and Instagram pages of the ones you are interested in to see what they have on offer for O-Week.

Promise us you’ll attend at least one O-Week event, pals. We know it can seem scary. But you will not regret it.
