Thyreus nitidulus- Lenora Cole

By Lenora Cole

striking dart of

fluorescence, you are

caught by light only and

then, just barely

hooked wings lie

in patient, cleptoparasitic

waiting, needled

to unguarded clay

mothering is best left

to someone else

unaware of your

opportunistic deception

you are glittering

lightning in the ground

to her soon-starving grub
