Glass invited all Guild election candidates to submit a statement explaining why they are running and why they deserve your vote. This is your chance to hear directly from those who want to represent you—so take a moment to get to know their priorities and visions for the future.
Voting opens on Monday, 21st October 2024. You can check out the rest of the candidate statements here.
My name is Preet Bulchandani, and I’m running with the Peachy team in the Guild elections to be the 2024 editors of QUT’s student magazine, Glass
Some of you may know me as a current editor for Glass Magazine. I started in September 2024, diving into the work of bringing student experiences to the forefront and giving a platform to the stories that matter. I’ve been working on my column, which humorously addresses the social and psychological challenges we students face. My writing always aims to make you think, and hopefully, laugh along the way.
Beyond Glass, I’m the Vice President of the QUT International Exchange Society (QUTIES). As an international student myself, I know the value of community and having a place to belong. My role with QUTIES has been about making sure everyone feels connected, no matter where they’re from, and that’s a vision I want to bring to Glass as well.
I’ve also been heavily involved in QUT’s creative circles. I’ve worked with the QUT Lit Salon, which has allowed me to engage with some of the incredible creative talent on campus. This experience has helped me understand the importance of a thriving creative community at QUT and why it’s so crucial for us to have spaces that celebrate our voices.
Recently, I attended the 2024 Student Media Conference representing Glass Magazine, where I gained new ideas and insights on making student journalism at QUT even bigger and better. I’m ready to bring those perspectives into Glass, with the goal of making it the best arts and culture magazine out there – a publication that’s not just fun to read but also meaningful, impactful, and a stepping stone for students looking to make their mark.
If Peachy wins, we’re bringing in more support for student voices, creating a substantial platform, and boosting recognition for both Glass and the Guild. We’re here to make Glass a publication that matters, one that leaves a legacy and genuinely impacts student life. Vote Peachy!
