VOTE for Maria Fernanda Ramos for Postgraduate Officer – Let’s make the most of our QUT experience!
Hey QUT community! I’m Maria Fernanda Ramos (yes, I’m Latina and from Mexico), a master’s student in Digital Communication at QUT. I’m running for Postgraduate Officer this year because I believe our university experience should be on more than just academics – it’s about creating opportunities, building community and networks, and ensuring every postgraduate student is set up for success after graduation.
I care deeply about making sure every student has a voice and the chance to make the most of their time at QUT. As Postgraduate Officer, I’ll focus on connecting international students with local students, providing more chances for us to collaborate and celebrate within our schools. I plan to organise regular postgraduate events, from semester kick-off parties to graduation celebrations, so we can enjoy our time here and strengthen our networks across QUT. I have experience in student leadership, having served as the President of my student government during my undergraduate studies in Mexico (the photo is me back in 2019!).
I also want to introduce workshops and career talks to help students explore different career paths and maximise the value of our degrees in the workforce. The QUT Guild is essential because it represents our voice – together, we can ensure that our needs and concerns are addressed and that our postgraduate journey is rewarding.
This election is your opportunity to shape the kind of university experience you want. The Guild’s future depends on us continuing to build an engaged, thriving community where every student is heard and supported. With your vote, we can achieve that.
