My name is Holly, and I am a third-year Business (Economics) / Justice (Policy and Politics) student at QUT. As a first-generation high school graduate and university student, I never imagined myself attending university, let alone being a candidate for the QUT Guild. However, as I’ve learned more about university and its intricacies, I’ve discovered tremendous opportunities for growth and improvement. I am also passionate about creating the vibrant campus life I was promised during high school.
As a candidate for the Treasurer position with Revive, I am committed to ensuring financial transparency and accountability within the Guild. Having held various treasurer positions across numerous student societies, along with professional experience in book-keeping, grant writing, and the financial sector, I believe I can bring both experience and stability to the Treasurer role.
My goal is to develop a financial strategy that not only meets our immediate needs but also invests in the future of our student community. The welfare of the people around me is at the forefront of every decision I make, and this will extend into my role as Treasurer. I aim to bring back opportunities and experiences for students by working diligently to ensure that funds are allocated efficiently. I want to continue expanding the resources available to campus clubs and societies, as I have first-hand experience of the challenges involved in running student-led and facilitated events, having served as an executive for Vena Cava, BAMSA, QUT Bookclub, and BESTies over the past two years.
Transparency is crucial to me. How can students trust the Guild if they aren’t fully informed about what’s happening? This is why I will ensure that all financial decisions are communicated clearly to the student body. This includes regular updates on how funds are being spent and actively seeking student input on budget priorities.
Additionally, I recognise the financial pressures many students face, which is why I will work to reduce costs wherever possible, from parking fees to event ticket prices. Together, we can create a financially stable Guild that prioritises the needs of all students, ensuring they are both successful and supported.
Vote for me and the Revive team, so that we can get to work making campus, and your university experience one that we all deserve!
