Hi, my name is Archer, and I am running to be one of the Board Members of the QUT student Guild.
In my opinion, the most important role of the Board of Directors is to help guide and assist the incoming elected representatives so they can deliver on their election promises. That is why I am running for this position, because I have previous experience as both the Vice President (Treasurer) and Education Officer of the Guild.
When I first was elected to the student union as Education Officer, I found it difficult to navigate the complexities of the Guild. There was very little guidance, and it took me a while to figure out what the role was. I want to change that by helping mentor the newly elected student representatives so they can get to work as quickly as possible without having to stumble through what is needed of them in the Guild’s structure.
As a previous Vice President of the Guild, I have seen the management issues that the Guild can have from both the elected students and QUT itself. I want to help the Guild to interact with QUT so we can get the best outcomes for student
The only way students will get better standards and better outcomes is with a strong Student Guild that fights for their rights. That is what I believe a Student Guild should be, and that is what I will fight for if I am elected to the Board of Directors.
