I am Angela Aliaga (she/ her), a second-year student at QUT, studying a Bachelor of Communications (Journalism) and a Bachelor of Business (Public Relations).
I believe I am a very a multi-faceted individual who enjoys spending my free time indulging in society and culture, sustainable fashion, and Pilates. I deeply value the development and wellbeing of communities and am passionate about worldwide equity, culture, social justice, and peace. I uphold these values daily by avoiding fast fashion consumption and instead indulging in thrift shopping (both donating and buying), and advocating for women’s safety and rights, as well as LGBTQIA+ liberty. My passion for these notable affairs has been reflected in two articles that discuss how significant these issues are in Australia, as they are worldwide.
By running for this position, I aim to push myself out of my comfort zone and interact with students to exercise my communication skills of reporting, storytelling, and creativity. I aim to execute impactful projects that will inspire and ignite compelling conversations. This role will not only allow me to use my creativity and communication skills but also provide me with the opportunity to collaborate on initiatives that highlight important student issues and promote events that will leave an enduring impact.
I believe that great stories come from collaboration, and I want to work with you all to ensure our university keeps developing to meet every student’s needs. If you want engaging and fresh ideas to make our university even more connected, vote for me!
