The Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025: The brief, the brisk, and the tabled
Another year, another Glass coverage of the Student Representative Council’s (SRC) Annual General Meeting (AGM). This year’s AGM was held on the 13th of November, 2025, at Gardens Point GP-P 502.
This is part of our continued coverage of the SRC meetings throughout 2025, to bring you insight and transparency to QUT Guild – your student union. The AGM is a summary of the whole year; it’s less about voting on motions, and more about reports on all the activities of the SRC throughout 2025.
And if you didn’t know, all current students can attend SRC meetings! If you want to contribute to change on campus or stay in the loop, we encourage you to attend and put forward motions to the SRC. You can find more information about the time and location of upcoming SRC meetings on the QUT Guild website.

AND WE’RE OFF!
President Emme Muggleton delivered the Year in Review. She spoke about the progress made with student advocacy, and the strengthening and rebuilding of the Guild’s relationship with QUT. Muggleton said that it’s been “one of the most cohesive and stable SRC teams in years,” and thanked the entire SRC for their dedication.
Chairperson Skinner then asked if anyone wanted to speak to their office report. Education Officer Erin Milne rose to speak. In their report, they asserted that students are still under attack from QUT’s budget cuts. Whilst science staff were successful in pushing back against their redundancies, QUT is still working other angles; the Dance degree has been diminished to just a minor, and student services have also been reduced – especially in areas of gender equality. Milne finished by urging us to think about national movements that the Guild can act upon. No one else wished to speak on their reports.
The Collective Reports were tabled as read.
The Guild’s Audited Financial Statement of the 24/25 Financial year was presented by Treasurer Guarrang Aggarwal. The Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) is still our major source of funding, at 27% of the total amount. We do get some additional funding from QUT from grants, but it’s hopeful that the SRC will get the full 40% from 2027, as set by the Department of Education. This year the Guild recorded a deficit of $400,000, a marked improvement compared to last year’s $700,000.
The Guild’s 2025 Annual Report was tabled due to length – 72 pages. The Guild’s FY25/26 Budget wasn’t presented either, as it hadn’t yet been completed.
The meeting was then moved to Business without Notice. Environment Officer Georgie Dobbs moved a motion for the Guild to renew its membership with the National Union of Students. “We actually stand to gain a lot from working with the other student unions around the country who want to continue to fight for left-wing demands,” Dobbs said. Milne seconded the movement, and it passed unanimously.
The meeting was closed at 6:28, by Chairperson Skinner.
That concludes our coverage of the AGM, 2025!
