Hello QUT Community,
My name is Agamvir Singh Bal, and I am proud to run for the position of International Officer with the QUT Guild. As an international student from India, I understand the unique challenges we face in adapting to a new culture and academic environment.
I believe in inclusivity, transparency, and active representation. It’s essential that every international student feels heard and valued within our university community.
I am passionate about addressing mental health support, cultural integration, and affordable housing for international students. These issues profoundly affect our well-being and academic success.
Plans for Improvement
If elected, I will advocate for:
1. International Buddy Program: Pair new international students with local students to help them acclimate. This will foster friendships and create a supportive network from day one.
2. Cultural Food Festival: Organise an annual festival celebrating the diverse cuisines of QUT’s international community. This event can promote cultural exchange while offering a platform for international students to showcase their heritage.
3. Wellness Workshops: Host workshops focused on mental health, stress management, and resilience-building tailored specifically for international students, featuring guest speakers and mental health professionals.
I see the Guild evolving into a robust advocate for all students, championing their needs and creating a vibrant campus community.
