The Ball for All: QUT’s First Inclusive Ball

By October 21, 2021 No Comments

AQW Ball - 27 November Abilities Queer and Women Welcome

The QUT Guild’s Queer, Women’s and Abilities Collectives have come together to organise QUT’s first-ever all-inclusive ball event. This ball has been specially planned and organised by and for students that identify as queer, women or having a disability.

Our uni’s Clubs and Societies are nothing short of outstanding at holding the best Ball Events in Brisbane, however, this doesn’t always mean all our friends feel safe, welcome or included at these events, in comes the inaugural AQW Ball.

After the great success of various events held by each of the collectives this year and the isolation that came with the last 12 months, it just made sense to put together a full, extravagant event where all students could feel safe, seen and included.

Just some of the all-inclusive features of the evening will be: captioning, Auslan interpreting, wheelchair accessibility and a low sensory room. Glass recommends if you have any other accessibility questions or concerns to reach out to the QUT Guild Abilities Officer, Cassandra Grey at abilities@qutguild.com

When it comes to entertainment for the evening be ready to enjoy live music performances, a drag show, roving performers, a makeup pop-up and a yet to be revealed secret showcase.

The evening of glamour will be taking place at the Royal International Convention Centre, Brisbane (RNA Showgrounds) with the theme of the night being; dress to impress with hints of gold!

The ticket price for this event also includes access to 2 hours of canapés + soft drink – alcohol will be purchasable on a cash bar. With so much on offer and new experiences to be shared make sure you get your tickets in the next two release rounds!

  • Second Release: Monday, 25 Oct 2021
  • Third Release: Monday, 1 Nov 2021
