Clothes for Careers is an initiative that has popped up at Z9 until 3 PM today. Racks and tables full of business-ready clothes with suits pants and tops waiting for students to try on and take home for free. Students are limited to four items—just bring your Student ID card.
Ingrid Larkin from the Faculty of Business and Law identified the financial pressure for preparing for interviews, internship placement, and employment. Through consulting students, she developed this pop-up shop as a solution. As part of QUT’s Green Impact Program, staff have been involved with sustainability on campus and have donated pieces for student use.
“Like everyone, students are facing increased cost-of-living pressures,” Ms Larkin said.
Colleen Cook, Student Support Manager for Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice, who is manning the stall today, talked about how successful the pop-up has been this Semester.
“We’re excited to have the first iteration of Clothes for Careers here at Kelvin Grove campus.
“We’ll be returning to z9 for our Student Support Pop-Up in Semester 2, weeks 2-9.”
QUT Chaplaincy will also be offering free toasties from 12 to 1PM today.
Gardens Point will not be missing out with a 2-week stall at QUT Supply outside of Y Block from the 12th of May open from 10 am till 2 pm
