My name is Brock, and I’d love to be your Disability Officer in 2025! As someone with lived experience of both disability and mental health conditions, I genuinely understand the challenges students living with disabilities face. From receiving appropriate supports and accessing relevant learning tools to finding a sense of belonging and navigating disability-specific adjustments, these are issues that I’m passionate about addressing.
My political stance is rooted in equity, ensuring that all students, regardless of ability, have the same opportunities for success. I believe in fostering an inclusive, accessible university environment where every student feels supported and empowered. I acknowledge that adequate support enables and fosters student success.
Some of my key goals include:
- Improving accessibility of university resources and services, both on-campus and online.
- Reducing wait time to see disability advisors and equity plan adjustments.
- Advocating for clearer, more transparent pathways to disability-specific adjustments and accommodations.
- Promoting a sense of community for students with disabilities through peer support and inclusive events.
- Expanding awareness of mental health issues and ensuring better access to support services.
I see the Guild playing a pivotal role in advocating for these changes and making sure students’ voices are truly represented. This election is a crucial step in creating a more inclusive environment at QUT, and I’m committed to making meaningful improvements that will benefit students of all abilities. I hope to earn your vote and work towards a university experience that truly does support ALL students. Thank you for your consideration!
